Congressional Chorus’ 30th season comes to a climactic finale as we celebrate the power of music, the international language, to tear down the walls that divide nations. The 160 voices of our family of choruses will lift up and celebrate our common humanity through a passionate and joyous exploration of the diversity of musical cultures from around the globe.
The highlight of the concert will be the Washington, DC premiere of CALLING ALL DAWNS, a twelve movement song cycle, in twelve languages, by Grammy Award-winning, Chinese-American composer Christopher Tin. His ground-breaking and unparalleled masterwork is inspired by musical traditions from every corner of our planet. The texts are drawn from a variety of sources, both sacred and secular, including Japanese haiku, Portuguese poetry, Maori proverbs, the Torah, the Latin Mass, and the Bhagavad Gita. It is a lush, pulsating, and cinematic musical adventure. Higher Plain Music called it "pure and absolute musical hedonism!"
Come explore new musical horizons as we celebrate MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS!

Harlie Sponaugle, Executive Director
Some of you may remember Harlie, the Founding Executive Director of the Congressional Chorus almost 30 years ago. Last summer, we had the happy circumstance of engaging with her, which quickly led to this impassioned transition that we are excited to announce!
