American Youth Chorus Celebrates Jazz

On Saturday, April 21, 2012, American Youth Chorus performed "JAZZ: Made in America" at a packed house at the Atlas. Through high-energy song and dance, the young people traced jazz from the early roots of jazz at the dawn of the 20th century in ragtime and blues, to the swing and bebop of the 1930s and 1940s, to the cool jazz and hard bop of the 1950s and 1960s. The Junior Division (ages 8 to 10) will perform songs from the jazz concert at Sitar Arts Center on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 5:00 pm. This is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. Sitar Arts Center is located at 1700 Kalorama Road, NW in Adams Morgan.
