The American Youth Chorus….
Fall 2009
…….was established by the Congressional Chorus in 2008 as an education outreach program for students ages 8 to 14. It was founded on the premise that all children, regardless of socio-economic background, deserve a high-quality music education. AYC encourages young people to develop their voices, creativity and self-esteem.

In two years, it has achieved a remarkable artistic success. The chorus quickly grew to more than 60 members and performed at the dedication of the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center (on CNN) and at the Children’s Inaugural Ball in January 2009 (featured on CBS). It was invited to the State Department to sing for Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and a gathering of ambassadors and has presented concerts at the Atlas Performing Arts Center and The John F. Kennedy Center. The Congressional Chorus continues to support the youth chorus financially and in its development.
