Church of the Epiphany, Washington, DC
Come escape the headlines, the angst and the daily grind of life in our nation's capital. Join us for an afternoon of music and dance, inspired by the works of poets and painters, that features the Washington, DC premiere of two exciting new works:
You will find transcendent moments of solace and comfort in Michael John Trotta's A Breath of Ecstasy, a lush, lyrical work based on the timeless words of poet Sara Teasdale. In Where Dreams Fly, William Averitt's colorful and exuberant score inspired by seven Marc Chagall paintings, you will enter a world of whimsical fantasy.
The capstone of the program is Dreams, a musical setting of three Langston Hughes poems by Christopher Urquiaga, an exciting young Washington, DC composer who recently headlined his debut performances at Blues Alley and Signature Theater.
Transport yourself into an afternoon of escape and lift your spirits through the transformative power of song, dance, paintings and poetry!
