Congressional Chorus opens its milestone 40th anniversary season with ROOTS & BRANCHES, a dynamic celebration of tradition and innovation. Founded in 1987 when a handful of Senate staffers gathered to sing during their lunch break, the organization has spent four decades championing American song while giving back to the community.

Sparked by rustic charm and bluegrass flair, the program weaves timeless hymns, choral masterworks, and river spirituals alongside fresh reimaginings of folk and roots favorites by Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, and The Wailin’ Jennys.

Joined on stage by NorthEast Senior Singers (Nov 13) and American Youth Chorus (Nov 14), singers spanning every generation unite to show that the seeds we plant together continue to blossom in bold new directions.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK celebrates standards from the early 20th century, a golden age of American popular music. From tuneful ballads to toe-tapping swing, these songs came out of Broadway theaters, radio airwaves, Hollywood soundstages, and late-night clubs, becoming a shared language across generations.
